New Gear Alert: Kali’s 2nd Wave LP Series Monitors, RESO by Mastering The Mix, Celestion’s Magnificent 7 & More

Kali Audio announces upgraded “2nd Wave” LP-Series Monitors.

This new iteration of Kali’s LP-Series monitors sees crucial improvements from its predecessor.

Kali Audio has announced the 2nd Wave of their best-selling LP-Series studio monitors. The lineup consists of the LP-6, a 6.5-Inch 2-way monitor available in both black and white, and the LP-8, an 8-Inch 2-way monitor.

The new versions of the LP-Series monitors replace the original versions in Kali’s lineup, and use their 2nd Wave technology platform to realize substantial performance improvements. These include 12dB lower self-noise, 3dB higher output thanks to a more sophisticated limiter, more robust DSP for a smoother high frequency response, lighter transducers, and improved construction processes for better cosmetic longevity.

The LP-6 gets 80W of power, with both the 1-inch tweeter and 6.5-inch woofer getting their own 40W amp. The LP-8 gets 100W of power, using the same 40W amp and 1-inch tweeter that the LP-6 uses, and an 8-Inch woofer powered by a 60W amp. Boundary EQ settings are accessible on the back of the speaker, along with a quick reference guide printed directly onto the speaker itself. New for the 2nd Wave version is a boundary EQ for using the speakers on desks with monitor stands.

The LP-6 is priced at $199; LP-8 is priced at $249.

Target problem frequencies and treat them with ease thanks to RESO by Mastering The Mix.

RESO is a dynamic resonance suppressor that helps you quickly identify and resolve resonances in your audio. The smart features help you get the best possible sound by dynamically fixing the problematic resonances without making your music sound thin.

Load up an instance of RESO on any channel and listen closely for resonances. The display, frequency sweep, and “calculate targets” features will help you identify resonant frequencies. Double click anywhere within the main window to create a node. Position the node where you want the resonance suppression to start. The Q is automatically optimized for the frequency of the node. You can scroll to adjust the Q to suit your preference.

RESO is available now for a special introductory promo price of $59 (reg. $69).

Audio-Technica debuts the BP28 and BP28L Line + Gradient Large Diaphragm Condenser Shotgun Mics.

Ideal for film and/or broadcast, Audio-Technica debuts the BP28 and BP28L microphones.

Offering a 153dB maximum SPL (with 10db pad) and extremely tight polar patterns, extremely tight polar patterns, exceptionally low noise levels (BP28: 8dB; BP28L: 3dB), and a patented acoustic port design that maintains directionality across the entire frequency range, these shotgun microphones are specially designed to meet the needs of broadcast, film, television, outdoor recording and theater applications.

Particularly suitable for long-distance miking for audio acquisition for film or professional broadcast, the BP28 and BP28L provide a flat frequency response and transformer-coupled outputs that produce a smooth sonic character. The mics offer extremely high sensitivity (BP28: -28dBV; BP28L: -23dBV), wide dynamic range (135dB), and high-SPL capability (BP28: 143dB; BP28L: 138dB), and are equipped with a switchable 80Hz high-pass filter and 10dB pad. Both. The mics’ rugged housing is made of lightweight, structural-grade aluminum alloy.
