Slate introduces the Virtual Tube Collection.

The Slate Digital Virtual Tube Collection is a set of three plugins for Virtual Mix Rack that recreate the sound of classic vintage tube circuits. Each module can act as a preamp, saturator, and even a virtual tube summing console. Using VTC, you can add color, warmth, depth, and vibe to your mixes and masters. VMS users can also use VTC preamps with the microphone models for rich and vibey tone on their tracks.

PSPaudioware announces the release of preQursor2, the successor to preQursor.

PreQursor2’s unique analog modeling algorithm can be enabled per instance, or globally to a group of instances, creating a virtual input console that offers rich and complex analog characteristics.

PSP preQursor2 is a specialized EQ plugin with uniquely designed filters that feature low resonance peaks, helping to reduce ringing artifacts. It introduces PSP’s Advanced Analog Modeling of preamps and filters to accurately recreate analog-like behavior. The analog modeling algorithm can be enabled and controlled per instance, or globally per group of instances. The latter allows for easy control of the amount of analog-like processing on either selected tracks or all tracks in the mix.

All of these characteristics result in a processor that not only sounds excellent on acoustic tracks, overall mixes, or any other application, but also allows you to virtually create the input console for all tracks in your mix with easy and convenient controls. PSP preQursor2 will maintain the natural feel and definition of the material, no matter the source.

Roland announces SPD::ONE series percussion pads.

The new Roland SPD::ONE modules can be played with drumsticks, hands, or feet, and offer quick access to a wide variety of adjustable parameters via the onboard controls.

The SPD::ONE series is a new line of compact electronic percussion pads that can be played with drumsticks, hands, or feet. Offering features like built-in sounds, user sample import, intuitive operation, and more, the SPD::ONE series enables any musician to enhance their performances and expand their creativity with Roland’s leading digital percussion technology.

The four models in the SPD::ONE series run on batteries or AC power and offer feature sets tailored for different musical needs. A simple knob-based interface provides quick access to sound selection, volume level, and other parameters, while side-mounted controls offer easy adjustment of the playing response. Each model also includes separate main and headphone outputs.

The SPD::ONE ELECTRO is equipped with a variety of electronic percussion sounds, including snare and handclaps from Roland’s legendary TR drum machines. The SPD::ONE PERCUSSION comes with a wide selection of acoustic percussion sounds, from shaker and tambourine to gong and timpani. The SPD::ONE KICK offers sounds optimized for triggering by foot, including bass drums, stomp boxes, percussion, and more. Each of these models comes with built-in effects, and offers the ability to import user WAV samples up to five seconds long via USB.

Instead of onboard sounds, the SPD::ONE WAV PAD comes equipped with 4 GB of flash memory, enabling users to load their own custom WAV files via USB. With 12 memory locations and up to 360 minutes of stereo audio time available, the SPD::ONE WAV PAD can be loaded with everything from short one-shot samples and looped phrases to full-length backing tracks. A unique and useful feature is the ability for users to load click tracks to accompany their backing tracks, and to output them to the headphone output only for monitoring purposes.

Each SPD::ONE model can be used on a tabletop or floor, or clamped to a drum or mic stand using the included mounting hardware. USB-MIDI is also supported, allowing musicians to use an SPD::ONE pad to input MIDI data and trigger sounds in music software.

Pricing for the SPD::ONE series does not seem to be available as of yet.

Propellerhead releases free Reason 9.5 update with VST support.

At long last, Reason is now offering VST support; now users can enjoy compatibility with their favorite plugins by Waves, iZotope, and more.

Version 9.5 is the newest update to the Reason music production software, introducing VST support. It is a free update for Reason 9 owners.

Explore new and creative ways to use VST plugins with Reason 9.5. You can drag and drop from the browser, use CV and audio connections with your plugins, play in new ways with Players, and put VSTs in Combinators with Reason’s own devices or Rack Extensions. Reason’s patchable rack lets you route audio any way you want, and the new plugin delay compensation in Reason 9.5 keeps you in phase at all times.

Reason 9.5 supports any VST 2.4-compliant instrument or effect plugin, which means just about every VST out there will work in Reason. In addition to the 375+ Rack Extension instruments and effects from over 90 different manufacturers already available, the Propellerhead Shop now features a custom curated list of VSTs from leading VST plugin brands including Waves, Output, KV331 and iZotope.
