New Gear Alert: UAD Software v9.9, Volume 3 by Softube, Propellerhead’s Reason Compact 2.0 & More
Universal Audio releases UAD Software v9.9, featuring the Capitol Chambers plugin.
Universal Audio is proud to release UAD Software v9.9 featuring the Capitol Chambers plugin, the world’s first authentic plugin emulation of Capitol Studios’ iconic underground echo chambers, exclusively for UAD hardware and UA Audio Interfaces.
In crafting the Capitol Chambers plugin, UA were granted unprecedented access to Capitol’s 4 most popular chambers, 30 feet beneath the studio parking lot, and used historic technical diagrams from the early ’60s to recreate the exact microphone and speaker/horn arrangements of chambers 2, 4, 6, and 7. New and creative mic/speaker combos were also devised by UA and Capitol’s chief engineer, Steve Genewick.
Harnessing the same technology as the award-winning Ocean Way Studios plugin, Capitol Chambers uses UA’s proprietary Dynamic Room Modeling technology, an exclusive combination of physical modeling and advanced measurement techniques, letting you reposition the mics within the chamber for next-level ambience control.
UAD Software v9.9 also features the addition of the Tube-Tech CL 1B MkII plugin. Developed by Softube, the CL 1B MkII is an updated emulation of a modern classic opto compressor, fully authenticated by Tube-Tech, Denmark. A go-to vocal compressor for major Pop, R&B, and Hip-Hop artists from Kanye to Jennifer Lopez and more, the new CL 1B MkII adds sidechain low cut and parallel compression controls, as well as updated hi-res graphics.

PreSonus adds 70+ features and enhancements to Studio One 4.5.
PreSonus is now shipping Studio One 4.5, a major update to their powerful recording and production software. With more than 70 new features and improvements, this free update for Studio One 4 users adds several of the most requested features from the Studio One user community, and adds advanced tools that streamline professional audio and MIDI production workflows.
The redesigned input channel section adds updated hardware preamp controls for selected PreSonus audio interfaces, as well as software-based input gain and phase controls to every input. Grouping has been completely redesigned: Groups now have attributes for defining edit groups or mix groups using attributes for Volume, Pan, Mute/Solo, Inserts, and Sends. Groups can be nested, easily edited, and activated/suspended with one click. A dedicated command can globally enable/disable all Groups at once.
Setting up an external audio interface is a lot easier thanks to several I/O setup improvements. Add any number of new inputs and outputs in just one step, including custom naming and coloring. Inputs and outputs can be reordered with simple drag-and-drop functionality. Users who switch interfaces, move between studios, or collaborate will appreciate the new import and export options for I/O setups.
A new Plug-In Manager lists all installed third-party plugins, including a list of plugins that were blacklisted during the initial scan, allowing them to be reset individually or globally. Honoring one of Studio One users’ top requests, CPU load for using combined virtual instruments inside a Multi-Instrument has been reduced by a whopping 70% for Native plugins, and by around 50% for third-party instruments like Kontakt. CPU optimization has also been implemented for Mai Tai, Presence XT, SampleOne XT, and Impact XT.
