New Gear Alert: UltraTap Pedal by Eventide, Soundtheory Updates Gullfoss, Audio Design Desk v1.6 & More
Eventide unleashes the UltraTap pedal.
Joining the Blackhole and MicroPitch Delay as the third member of the dot9 pedal family, Eventide Audio’s new UltraTap is a unique multi-tap delay pedal that delivers rhythmic delays, glitchy reverbs, huge pad-like volume swells, and expressive modulated effects in a compact form.
The dot9 UltraTap is the result of forty years of development that began in 1981 with Eventide’s Digiplex and Multitap Delay algorithms for its legendary SP2016 Effects Processor, evolved to become the H3000’s UltraTap, and culminating in the advanced UltraTap available as both a plugin and H9 algorithm. The new UltraTap pedal further builds on this legendary effect by offering the option to add as many virtual tape heads as desired, along with the ability to expressively control head position and output level, thus enabling new and unprecedented effects.

UltraTap is available now, priced at $279.
Soundtheory announces a major update for Gullfoss.
With version 1.9.0, Gullfoss now comes in two flavors. The established version of Gullfoss for mixing and mastering in the studio is accompanied by Gullfoss Live, which is optimized for low-latency situations like tracking and live mixing. At a latency of less than 2 milliseconds, compared to the approximately 20 milliseconds for the regular version, Gullfoss Live delivers pristine sound quality and all the same features. The sound gains a little more character as the low-latency algorithm treats transients differently. This difference also makes Gullfoss Live an alternative for mixing and mastering music styles with very pronounced transients.
The new equalizer engine debuting with version 1.9.0 improves upon the renowned sound quality of Gullfoss. A new innovative algorithm delivers a smoother high-end and a warmer low-end that will satisfy the most critical listeners. At the same time the CPU performance is improved at very high sampling rates.
Gullfoss 1.9.0 is a free update for all existing users. The price of Gullfoss remains unchanged at $199 and is available for MacOS and Windows. A free 14 day trial can be downloaded here.
