Producer Eric Valentine’s Undertone Audio releases a painstaking re-creation of the revered Fairchild tube compressor.

The UnFairchild circuitry mirrors the legendary Fairchild, a compressor much coveted for its musicality, and whose beauty was its simplicity: only 2 transformers and 4 paralleled vari-mu tubes in the audio path. The UTA UnFairchild is a painstaking recreation of the classic sound from this circuitry, capturing the best of the past, and now also offering more modern functionality.

Overcoming the original’s limitations, UnFairchild’s redesigned circuitry improves on the lifespan and reliability of the JJ 6386 tubes, a massive cost-saver for studios and engineers. Additionally, the UnFairchild’s focus on flexibility and functionality enables it to handle every compression task on any style of music, from pop to rock to jazz to classical.

The UnFairchild 670M II features 6 original time constant presets, “Variable” mode with independent attack and release time adjustments, stereo linking, 2 M/S modes, sidechain processing, “feed-back” or “feed-forward” functionality, and detented user controls for easy recalls.

UK Sound announces the 1173 Mic Preamp/Compressor is now shipping.

BAE Audio imprint UK Sound is now offering the classic 1073 + FET compression tone all under one hood in their debut unit, the 1173.

The UK Sound 1173 is the first in a line of economically-priced units from BAE Audio imprint UK Sound.

The 1173 owes its unique character to the combined 1073 preamp and FET compressor circuit. It features the recognizable FET compressor controls for input and output gain and the time-honored compression ratio options of 4:1, 8:1, 12:1, and 20:1. Attack and release controls allow you to tailor the compressor’s action for any given source. While the 1073 preamp helps bring depth and clarity to audio on the front end, the FET compressor is able to manage peaks, adding control and thickness to the signal. Drums, bass, vocals, and synths are among the many sound sources that will benefit from the 1173.

Eventide expands the reach of the already-robust Anthology X bundle with their updated Anthology XI bundle.

The free and easy-to-use app, now compatible with Android devices, allows users of Powersoft’s X Series amplifier platforms to instantaneously recall a full slate of saved settings by simply connecting their phone to their amplifier with a USB cable. The app makes the X Series amplifier platforms an even more appealing solution for audio professionals, including in rental environments.

A simple user interface allows you to save and recall an exact snapshot of all settings on the amplifier, including routing, equalization, and limiting, at any time. The app also allows you to select the source priority that will be applied after the snapshot has been recalled.
