New Gear Alert: Vocal Re-Synthesis with Waves, Output & Barefoot Monitor Collaboration, Focusrite x Nugen Audio & More
Waves announces the OVox Vocal ReSynthesis plugin.
Waves’ OVox is a next-generation voice-controlled synthesizer and vocal effects processor. You can use OVox as a plugin or standalone app (with or without a DAW) to create rich vocoder, talkbox, harmonizer, pitch/tune, vocal arpeggiation effects and beyond, with superior sound quality and instant results.
Whether you’re a producer, musician, or engineer, the Waves OVox Vocal ReSynthesis places an unprecedented menu of vocal synthesis and vocal morphing options in your hands—from classic Daft Punk-style vocoding to futuristic vocal effects that defy category.
OVox delivers its ultra-high-resolution sound quality thanks to Waves’ Organic ReSynthesis (ORS) technology, which takes your vocal signal and breaks it down to its core “DNA” elements—amplitude, pitch, and formant. It then re-synthesizes these elements to create a new pristine processed signal, without any of the artifacts that sometimes plague vocal synth-type instruments.

OVox is on sale now, priced at $69.99 (reg. $149).

Focusrite offers Plug-in Collective members “mono-izing” effect by Nugen Audio.
Members of Focusrite’s Plug-In Collective can now download Nugen Audio’s Monofilter Elements plug-in for free, and get a £100 discount in the Nugen Audio e-store.
Monofilter Elements solidifies your bottom end by “mono-izing” the low frequencies in the input signal without affecting the rest of the spectrum. With this powerful tool, you can center low-frequency content within a full mix for phase coherence and maximum impact on mono playback systems, tighten up individual stereo bass tracks, counteract low-end-muddying stereo effects, and more.
The Monofilter Algorithm slider works like a depth control, progressively narrowing the low frequencies and raising the cutoff point below which the mono-izing occurs, while the Trim control enables attenuation or boosting of the mono portion by up to 10dB, and a sweepable high-pass filter shaves off everything below 20-349Hz. Add in a helpful “quick start” preset library, A/B comparison, a stereo differential spectrum analyzer, and you have an indispensable mixing and mastering utility for any producer or engineer.
This offer is available from January 16th to March 5th, 2020; to join the Plug-in Collective, simply register any Focusrite hardware product, then look out for a new offer every couple of months.
oeksound announces the release of soothe2.
soothe2 is a complete rewrite of the original soothe plugin, offering improvements in performance and sound while adding many new features. These include the expansion of the processing to full frequency range, the addition of attack and release speed parameters, and the inclusion of two processing modes suitable for different situations.
soothe2 works by automatically detecting resonances in the audio material and then applying a reduction that matches the input signal. It can be used for a range of applications across the full frequency range—to reduce harshness in close-mic’d audio material, to achieve very transparent de-essing, to combat and reduce muddiness, and to even out the bass frequencies.
soothe2 is available now, priced at €199, and supportS both macOS and Windows using the VST, VST3, Audio Units and AAX plugin formats. An upgrade license from soothe to soothe2 is available for €50.
