NYC Event Alert: Understanding the Music Modernization Act – May 21

On April 10, the US House of Representatives formally introduced H.R. 5447, also known as the Music Modernization Act (MMA). Two weeks later, the House unanimously passed the legislation and it now heads to the Senate aiming for a mid-May hearing.

To better understand the MMA’s full implications, the Production Music Association (PMA) is holding an event in NYC on Monday, May 21: “The Music Modernization Act and What It Means to You.” The expert panel will go from 6-9 PM, at ASCAP, 1900 Broadway, 7th Floor. Tickets are $10 for PMA Members and $20 for non-members.

Learn more about what the MMA means on Monday, March 21st.

If it becomes law, the Music Modernization Act (the MMA) will change how payments for music are collected and distributed across digital platforms, as well as make other significant changes to the music licensing landscape.

Featuring representatives from ASCAP, BMI, and the National Music Publishers Association (NMPA), the panel examines the MMA as it sets out to reform the rules governing music use for the digital age.

The panel will be moderated by Joe Saba, Co-Founder of VideoHelper. He will be joined by Joe DiMona, Vice President of Legal Affairs, BMI; Danielle Aguirre, EVP & General Counsel, NMPA; and Sam Mosenkis, Vice President of Legal Affairs, ASCAP. Visit here for more in-depth information on the panel, and to register.
