Summer=block parties, and here’s one you definitely won’t want to miss.
The Control Voltage Fair returns to NYC this Saturday, July 6, 3 PM-12 AM, at 206 Front Street, Cannon’s Walk in the South Street Seaport. Attendance is FREE.
A concert, block party, and expo all in one, Control Voltage Fair is New York City’s annual fair dedicated to celebrating the modular synthesizer. The people who create and distribute synths are on hand with their inspiring creations throughout the day, with an open invitation for visitors to see/hear/touch/feel/love/talk about modular synths.
As the sun goes down, Control Voltage Fair turns into an auditory celebration, with performances that highlight technology, invention, community and creativity all together.
Exhibitors on hand will include 4ms, Make Noise, Pittsburgh Modular, and many more. Later on, the likes of Richard Devine, Keith Fullerton Whitman, and Antenes aka Lori Napoleon will grace the stage.
Need more enticing? Here’s additional info, from the good folks of CFV:
Introduced in the 1960s, the modular synth has recently experienced a rebirth due to its affordability and sonic flexibility, which makes it a revolutionary tool for creativity. Control Voltage is an open forum inviting person-to-person interaction between maker, musician, and attendee – novices and enthusiasts. Interact with artists and tinkerers, share ideas, and explore the ins and outs of this limitless instrument!
The fair will take place on July 6th, 2013 at 206 Front Street, Cannon’s Walk, and will feature the interactive fair followed by a concert. Kickoff and wrap-up concerts will take place on July 5th and July 8th. Workshops involving building voltage-controlled instruments will take place throughout the weekend.
