Producer No I.D. Appointed Executive Vice President, Def Jam Records
Grammy-winning producer No I.D. has been named Executive Vice President of Def Jam Records.
The Roc Nation producer who’s worked with Kanye West, Jay-Z, Common and Rihanna is known as the “Godfather of Chicago hip-hop,” and will focus on finding new talent for the NYC-based hip-hop-n-R&B label.
“Def Jam is a cultural staple,” No I.D. said at a pre-MTV VMAs party. “It’s not just a label, it’s part of the culture that I came up in and that I’ve been involved with for 20 years. It’s very important that the next generation of executives grab it by the horns and keep it on track as it grows.”
No I.D. has been president of Kanye West’s Def Jam subsidiary, GOOD Music.
