Spacehog and Swans Reunite at Trout Recording
Amidst numerous independent projects going on in recent months at Trout Recording in Brooklyn, the studio hosted the reunions of two rock giants — Spacehog and Swans — both of whom have been in the studio recording new material with producer/engineer Bryce Goggin (Pavement, Phish).
Goggin has worked extensively in the studio with both bands — he produced/engineered on Spacehog’s Hogyssey, Chinese Album, In The Meantime, Space Is The Place and Resident Alien and engineered on Swans’ Great Annihilator, Omniscience, Body to Body, Job to Job and White Light from the Mouth of Infinity.
NYC indie-chanteuse Joan Wasser has brought her band Joan As Policewoman to Trout to work on a new album. Wasser, a violinist and singer/songwriter, co-produced the ’08 Joan As Policewoman album, To Survive, with Goggin at Trout.
As we previously reported, psych-pop veterans The Apples in stereo record, Travellers in Space and Time was mixed, and partially recorded, by Goggin and Robert Schneider at Trout earlier this year.
And, the addition of an Ampex MM 1200 16-track 2” tape machine and an 8-foot EMT140 plate reverb have reportedly “increased the good sounds emanating from the studio while the racks of outboard gear have been constantly upgraded as per usual.”
