Splice Launches NYC Creator Class Program — Apply by March 4th
Are you a creator with class? If so, there’s a class that’s been created just for you.
That’s the Creator Class, a new program from Splice based out of its NYC headquarters. Formulated to help develop and hone the sample creation skills of promising sound creators, musicians, producers, and engineers, the Creator Class is a nine-month curriculum that will be led by Jay Pulman aka Capsun, the Creative Director of Capsun ProAudio and 91Vocals.
Capsun is a music producer and sound designer who has created and curated best-selling sample packs through the Splice Sounds platform, which has been the source for sounds used in tracks by acclaimed artists such as Kehlani, Logic, Stormzy and Post Malone.
Applications for this first Creator Class are currently being accepted and remain open until March 4th; admission is open to all musicians, producers, and engineers that can come to NYC once a month for a two-hour session. There is no cost to apply or be a part of the Creator Class.
Following the admissions review process, Splice will select ten promising applicants to participate in the program. Creator Class will be delivered under the expertise and guidance of Capsun, pro sound designers, guest artists and relevant mentors within the industry.
Upon completion, the graduating class will have acquired invaluable skills and knowledge in all aspects of producing and delivering professional-level samples. Their artistic efforts will be released and available for download through the Splice platform.
Creator Class is part of Splice’s overall Creator Initiative, which launched in Fall of 2018. The Creator Initiative seeks to widen the pool of talent that works with Splice, giving sound creators the same kind of care and cultivation as traditional songwriter/artist development.
The Creator Class is the latest in a series of educational initiatives from Splice. This January, Splice held its first Creator Summit in Los Angeles, a full-day, invitation-only event for artists, musicians, producers, and sound designers featuring in-depth panel discussions with successful Splice Creators including Grammy Award-winning producer duo NOVA Wav (The Carters, Kehlani), singer-songwriter KARRA (Ultra Records), Producer/DJ Jay Pulman (Founder of Capsun ProAudio) and electronic artist CHROME SPARKS (Ninja Tune).
Since 2018, Splice has distributed over $11 million in royalties to creators of one-shots, loops, and presets available through its Website.
