Spotify Acquires Soundtrap, Cloud Recording Studio Startup
How much can you make with an idea spurred by recording on a cloud-based DAW? Millions of dollars.
We’re only speculating on the cost of the acquisition, of course, but we expect that Stockholm-based audio startup Soundtrap cashed in for at least seven figures when Spotify bought them this week. Seeing as how Soundtrap picked up $6 million in funding in 2016, the return could be healthy.
If you haven’t checked out Soundtrap yet, give it a look – they packed an impressive number of features into their cloud-based “studio.” For certain types of users and educators, its not surprising the platform picked up steam.
It all goes to show that there’s plenty of room for growth and M&A in audio. Your solution just has to hit the sweet spot.
