Synthplex 2019: Reviewing the Debut
The first annual Synthplex festival, celebrating all things synth, debuted in Burbank, CA from March 28-31. SonicScoop’s Matthew Wang was on the scene:
Considering this was the first Synthplex, it ended up being quite an amazing event with a varied list of highly engaging speakers and panels. The festival had a focus on film composers and included talks with luminaries like Junkie XL, Ronit Kirchman, and Drum & Lace, as well as performances by Michael Levine and Mark Isham among others.
Spectrasonics blew many people away with their expanding Hardware Synth Integration technology, which adds even more synths in the newest version 2.6. It was also great checking out modules from companies including Noise Engineering, Intellijel, and many, many more.
The launch of Synthplex created a nurturing and supportive environment for synth lovers. Hopefully this is the first of many more to come!
