“The Show Must Go On”: A Tribute Concert for Larry Swist – 8/6, Buffalo, NY

One of audio’s greats will soon be at the center of a sound celebration.

On Wednesday, August 6th, an all-star lineup of musicians and engineers will gather in Buffalo to play “The Show Must Go On”, a tribute memorial concert for Larry Swist. A globally recognized studio designer and monitor designer, Swist’s 40 years of music and sound achievement – which enhanced the lives of those in his Western New York roots and far beyond – will be highlighted.

The concert will take place at the renowned Tralf Music Hall, and include ten members of the Buffalo Music Hall of Fame (of which Swist is also an inductee). Members of Larry’s immediate musical family will also perform – wife Jessie Galante, son Christopher Swist, daughter-in-law Marcia Lehninger, Rossano Galante, and Joey Galante Jr.

The evening will be recorded by by Larry Swist’s mentor and friend Mick Guzauski (Daft Punk, Michael Jackson, Mariah Carey, Eric Clapton) the multiplatinum and multi-GRAMMY winning sound engineer who originally hails from Rochester, New York.

Swist’s career in music and sound spanned forty years, beginning as a local musician and reaching a pinnacle as a designer and builder of world class recording studios and studio monitors. As a recording engineer and concert sound engineer, Larry showed an unwavering commitment to quality sound and acoustics . The result was gold and platinum albums and memorable concert tours for local and national musicians, including Chuck Mangione and Spyro Gyra. Larry entered the Buffalo Music Hall of Fame in 2002.

Just as importantly, Larry Swist was a positive force in the Universe, as SonicScoop observed in this remembrance.

August 6th at the Tralf, doors open at 7:00 p.m. and show at 8:00 p.m. Proceeds to benefit the American Diabetes Association (Larry Swist was a type 1 diabetic). There will also be a gallery display of Larry Swist’s paintings and pictures of his recording studio designs.

Also of note is that this year’s multiple-Grammy winning Daft Punk album Random Access Memories was mixed on the Guzauski-Swist GS3a, a studio monitor speaker which Larry Swist designed in partnership with Mick Guzauski, generating new patents in the quest for excellent sound.
