Universal Audio Announces 3 New Plug-Ins for UAD-2 and Apollo with UAD Software v8.3
The UAD-2 DSP accelerators and Apollo interfaces are capable of pushing some of the most sonically detailed plug-ins available. With the release of UAD Software v8.3, Universal Audio is now featuring a few new plug-ins for us to get our hands on.
The additions live up to the detail with the only exclusively licensed and endorsed plug-in version of AKG’s BX 20 Spring Reverb, the Brainworx Ampeg SVT-VR Bass Amplifier and SVT-3 Pro Bass Amplifier, and Softube’s Tube-Tech EQ Collection.
The AKG BX 20 is a staple of AKG engineering, originally released in the 1960s. The plug-in version contains all of the aural characteristics of the original, plus additional plug-in controls for DAW workflows. Features include:
- Exclusively licensed and endorsed by AKG Acoustics, designed by Universal Audio
- Models the BX 20’s famous dual tank TTL (Torsion Transmission Line) reverb unit and R20 Decay remote control
- Dark and dense spring ambience for reverb buses or individual sources
- Features original dual spring tank configuration, plus “Mk II” stereoized A/B Tank Select, Direct signal defeat, and BX 10 Tone controls
- “Digital Only” features include Decay, Volume and Pan, Link, Dry/Wet blend, Predelay, and Low Cut Filter
- Features artist presets from Patrick Carney (Black Keys), Vance Powell (Jack White), Jacquire King (Kings of Leon), and more
Brainworx’ Ampeg SVT-VR Bass Amplifier plug-in is an exacting emulation of the legendary, 300-watt, all-tube behemoth used by everyone from Bootsy Collins to the late Chris Squire of Yes, while the Ampeg SVT-3 Pro Bass Amplifier plug-in models the tube/solid-state design and extended tone shaping of the rackmount modern classic. The Ampeg Bass Plug-In Bundle is available for $229 MSRP, or $149 MSRP each. The SVT features include:
- Two expertly modeled versions of the legendary SVT amps from Ampeg, exclusively for UAD hardware and Apollo interfaces
- Modern workflow enhancements including an onboard FX Rack and recording chains
- Feels like a real amp when played through Apollo’s Realtime UAD Processing
- Re-Amp previously recorded DI bass tracks to add warmth and depth
- Bundle includes Brainworx bx_tuner
Lastly, Softube’s PE 1C Program Equalizer plug-in is based on the classic Pultec EQP-1A Program EQ, and provides wide, smooth curves for use on nearly any source. The ME 1B Mid Equalizer plug-in allows for extensive sculpting of midrange frequencies and is based on the legendary Pultec MEQ-5 Mid-Range EQ. The Tube-Tech EQ collection is available for $299 MSRP. Also available is the Tube-Tech Bundle for $399, which features the Tube-Tech EQ Plug-In Collection paired with Tube-Tech’s flagship compressor, the CL 1B Compressor plug-in. Features of the EQ collection include:
- Exacting emulations of Tube-Tech’s ultra high-end hardware EQs, the PE 1C and ME 1B
