Vivendi Agrees to Acquire Recorded Music Division of EMI Group

The New York Times reports that the recorded music division of EMI Group, which has offices in NYC, will be acquired by French media and telecommunications giant Vivendi for approximately $1.9 billion.
The acquisition further consolidates the major labels, putting EMI under the same roof as Universal Music Group.
