New Gear Alert: Steinberg’s Cubase 10, ATOM Controller by PreSonus, Kali Audio LP-8 Monitors & More
Steinberg announces Cubase 10.
The latest iterations of Steinberg’s music production software, Cubase Pro 10, Cubase Artist 10, and Cubase Elements 10, combine their best audio quality with a vast range of advanced audio and MIDI tools for composing, recording, editing, and mixing music. Cubase Artist 10 is a slimmer edition, offering the same core technologies as Cubase Pro alongside many dedicated production tools. Cubase Elements 10 is the first step into the world of music production with Cubase.
In all editions of Cubase 10, the Channel Strip has undergone significant changes, featuring new metering elements in each module, providing immediate visual feedback and further facilitating the mixing process. The audio engine has also been refined, now supporting 32-bit integer and 64-bit floating-point audio for recording, importing/exporting, and converting. Plugins have been redesigned and can now be dragged from the Media Rack and dropped directly into the project.
Also available across the Cubase 10 product line are exciting new developments, such as VariAudio 3 (a pitch correction tool), MixConsole Snapshots, Audio Alignment (useful for stacking vocals and other tracks), added effects processors, MIDI Polyphonic Expression (MPE), and much more. Kali Audio announces LP-8 studio monitor.
The LP-8 is the larger of the two models in Kali Audio’s debut Project Lone Pine product line. Both models feature advanced waveguides, largest-in-class magnets and voice coils, and a unique front-firing, low noise port tube. An array of boundary compensation EQ settings, XLR, TRS, and RCA inputs, and Class D power amps all make the monitors easy to use in any setup.
The smaller LP-6, a 6.5-inch studio monitor, has been on the market since September, and has received wide acclaim. The larger model offers increased dynamic range, low frequency extension, and overall output. It is ideal for listening environments where the speakers will be up to 8 feet away, as well as for content with highly detailed low end. People mixing bass-heavy genres like Hip-hop and EDM will be particularly pleased with the LP-8. It’s also a wonderful choice for film and video production.
The LP-8 is priced at $249 per speaker, and is available for pre-order now; they will ship on December 1st in the US and Canada.
Eventide releases HotSawz synth for H9 effects pedals.
HotSawz is a new pitch-tracking, monophonic synth engine for Eventide’s H9 Harmonizer effects pedals. With 6 stackable sawtooth oscillators, 3 modulation sources, and 4 assignable destinations, HotSawz allows you to create a wide palette of sounds that run the gamut from classic synthwave to a pulsing panorama of bouncing blips, brassy swells, and sub-bass swagger.
The modulation sources include LFO, Envelope Follower, and ADS Gate, while the 4 assignable destinations are comprised of Filter Cutoff, Volume, Pitch and Oscillator Depth. Each modulation source can be assigned to any of these destinations at a given time. Thus, multiple sources can manipulate the same destination.
Too spicy? Dial it back with the global Mix function and maintain some of your original tone. Not spicy enough? Transpose the oscillators up and/or down by an octave for that thick, analog synth sound.
Check out an introductory video to HotSawz here.
Customers can demo HotSawz by downloading the latest version of the H9 Control app for iPhone, iPad, Mac, PC and Android devices. HotSawz is priced at $19.99 for H9 and H9 Core owners, and is free for H9 Max owners.
