Berklee Online Opens Applications For First Online Master’s Degree Program

Higher education in audio has just elevated another level.

Berklee College of Music in Boston officially opened the application process for their first online master’s degree programs. Interested students can visit the Berklee Online website now to start the application process.

Berklee Online has two masters degree programs to add to its offerings, with applications now open.

The inaugural class will begin in September 2018 and will give students the chance to earn their master’s degree with Berklee Online in two areas: Master of Music in Music Production and Master of Arts in Music Business.

Berklee Online has also unveiled the full course list and detailed information for both programs and released videos to highlight each one. The Music Business overview video features John P. With the Master of Music in Music Production, students will learn about the most creative and innovative music production techniques and the power of the latest DAW-based technology. This will include courses like Commercial Vocal Production, Critical Analysis of Music Production Techniques, Advanced Sound Mixing Techniques, Audio/Music Production for Visual Media, Business of Independent Music Production, Creative Recording Techniques in Music Production, and more.

The Master of Arts in Music Business will give students the chance to be a leader in the growth and success of the evolving music business in key market segments. This will include courses like Music Business Revenue Streams, The Business of Music Marketing, Data Analytics in the Music Business, Music Business Finance for Entrepreneurs, Music Business Law, Artist Management in the Music Business, Music Business Management and Leadership, and more.

Both programs consist of 12 courses (36 credits) that can be completed within one year. In keeping pace with the same flexibility that Berklee Online is known for, students have the option to start in any semester during the academic year and will get the chance to have direct interactions with Berklee faculty and fellow students through their learning management system. Part of each program is a culminating experience, which could be developing a marketing plan or creating an EP that is fully completed and ready to be distributed to the world.

Featured faculty in the Master of Music in Music Production will include renowned producers and engineers like Enrique Gonzalez Müller, Prince Charles Alexander, Sean Slade, and Susan Rogers, who have worked with artists including Prince, The Dave Matthews Band, Joe Satriani, Joan Baez, Les Claypool, Radiohead, Hole, Lou Reed, Mary J. Blige, Destiny’s Child, Faith Evans, P. Diddy, the Notorious B.I.G., Usher, Sting, Aretha Franklin, Usher, Brian McKnight and many more.

The Master of Arts in Music Business will feature global brand strategy expert Stephen Canfield, who currently serves as vice president of marketing for WeTransfer; director of music licensing at SiriusXM satellite radio Casey Rae; internationally recognized expert in music copyright and intellectual property matters Dr. E. Michael Harrington; music industry specialist and practicing entertainment lawyer John P. Kellogg, Esq., and more.

The master’s degree program will continue with Berklee Online’s of offerings, and will give students the chance to earn their degree for a total cost of $33,695 (tuition and fees included), which is roughly 20 percent less than the cost of an in-person degree.
