Dig upon this mind-bendingly educational schedule:

On Monday, July 25th, Percussivo Mundo Novo will bring their special blend of Brazilian rhythms and sounds, hip hop, fusion jazz and prog rock to Dubspot for their live performance workshop. The session will be helmed by Mikael Mutti, who while performing touts a “tablet,” a custom controller adapted from the popular game Guitar Hero. In addition to Mutti’s use of eclectic performance tools, he has enlisted a crew of local Bahia percussion aficionados to fill out the drum storm that is group’s sound.  RSVP here via Facebook.

On Friday, July 29th, the renowned King Britt, along with Rucyl Mills, will bring their Saturn Never Sleeps project to Dubspot for an examination of their recording process, controllers, and performance techniques. King Britt has long been established in the electronic music world since co-founding Ovum Recordings with Josh Wink back in 1994. After joining Rucyl in 1999 for two initial performances, the two have continued to work together, with a debut album set for release this month. Drawing inspiration from the revolutionary avant-garde jazz musician Sun-Ra, the duo have crafted an improvisational style that plays straight into their intuitive musical abilities. See how this manifests itself in their recording process and performance setup during this very special workshop. RSVP here via Facebook.

On Monday, August 1st, Holland’s DJ Irie will host a workshop highlighting his skills as a turntablist-meets-VJ technologist. A DJ since 1993, Irie boasts years of experience behind the decks, witnessing the development of DVS technology first hand. He how brings this accumulated knowledge to Dubspot for a discussion of Serato and Ableton Live’s applications in the world of turntablism and hip hop DJing. RSVP here via Facebook.
