Event Alert! 2019 AES High School Audio Educators Conference – 8/16-17

It would be impossible to identify just one demographic that’s essential to audio’s future — chief among them, however, are teenagers, as well as the dedicated educators who teach and reach them.

The 2019 AES High School Educators Conference brings higher education to audio this August 16-17.

The Audio Engineering Society is putting this key group front and center with the AES High School Audio Educator’s Conference, happening August 16-17 in beautiful West Hartford, CT, at the University of Hartford.

Educators will be joining from Arizona, Tennessee, Connecticut, Colorado, New York, Massachusetts, New Jersey, Georgia, Illinois, Kansas, California, South Carolina, Florida, Louisiana and England.

This highly focused conference offers educators the opportunity to network with colleagues who are similarly excited about audio and want to develop impactful methods that will elevate their audio programs. The conference’s objective: to inspire new ideas about exciting recording techniques, spark new ways to build transformative teen curriculum, and provide the tools and inspiration to take high school audio education to the next level.

Presenters include a number of exemplary high school educators who will demonstrate their curricula, facilities and pedagogy to the assembled conference.  Elizabeth Gugliemo, the Director of Music for New York City Public Schools will deliver the keynote address: “Audio Education: Empowering and Inspiring the Complete Musician.”  Other highlights include a wax cylinder recording demonstration by Jerry Fabris of the Edison Historical Site in West Orange, New Jersey; “Crafting and Online Presence for Teen Audio Educators” with author Bobby Owsinski; “Facilities for Teen Audio Programs” with studio designer Dave Malekpour; a tour of the University of Hartford Acoustics Research Lab and a barbecue at the nearby Telefunken microphone factory in South Windsor, CT.
