Focusrite Introduces Clarett OctoPre Interface

Bring on the Focusrite news! Along with their sweet new plug-in deals, Focusrite now brings us the Clarett OctoPre for easily integrating an additional 8 mic pres into any set up with ADAT optical I/O.

Each of the eight preamps on the Clarett include Focusrite’s ‘Air’ technology that emulates the sound of their transformer-based ISA range of heritage mic pres. This feature can be toggled on or off for individual channels, while phantom power is engaged in two banks of four mic pres. Clarett’s mic pres also automatically switch between line and mic inputs. These high-headroom preamps make them ideal for recording high-level signals.

Focusrite OctoPre is ready to take on outboard processing, line/mic sources and more.

Clarrett OctoPre has plenty of flexibility and power with their I/O, but Focusrite stresses that the conversion of this interface is also some of the best in their offering. Focusrite states:
Focusrite has been making digital conversion systems for years, and the Clarett OctoPre provides a level of conversion quality that matches that of the mic pres themselves, with precision digital conversion offering 24–bit operation at standard sample rates up to 192 kHz. Both A–D and D–A converters measure a dynamic range of 118dB.Two ADAT input and two output ports are provided, allowing the Clarett OctoPre to carry eight channels of I/O at sample rates of up to 96kHz and four channels at 176.4/192kHz. The Clarett OctoPre syncs either to external ADAT or Word Clock, or may be clocked internally, and features JetPLL™ jitter elimination. Word Clock out is also provided.

Focusrite’s Clarett OctoPre is due to ship in November 2016, for preorder from Focusrite dealers at $849.95 MSRP (found for $699.99).
