Hercules Launches New DJ Control AIR, + DJ Headphones

DJ hardware specialists Hercules has announced the new DJ Control Air, a versatile new digital DJ controller.

It's not hands-free, but there's no need to touch the DJ AIR Controller from Hercules.

Available now for MSRP $169.99, DJ Control AIR places an intuitive ensemble of controls on a unique mobile control surface. According to Hercules, these controls have typically been only available to seasoned musicians via multiple controllers, each of which is programmable and/or dedicated to a specific function. The DJ Control AIR also features built-in audio outputs.

As the company explains, AIR or “Adjustment by InfraRed” is a new kind of control for computer DJ mixing consoles. The infrared proximity sensor built into the unit allows DJs to control their choice of function (volume level, effects, etc.) without touching the controller, simply by moving their outstretched hand above the sensor.

The AIR control functions regardless of the ambient lighting, allowing users to modulate a software setting quickly and intuitively.

In addition, Hercules is introducing three new headphone models:

The HDP DJ-Pro M1001 headphones (MSRP: $169.99) are designed for semiprofessional and professional DJs. The signature Hercules design features a continuous arc from one earpiece to the other, avoiding pressure on the user’s head, while also shielding the DJ from external sounds. Ideal for previewing tracks, the HDP DJ-Pro M1001 headphones allow DJs to analyze sounds via a very wide 5 Hz-30 kHz frequency range.

The HDP DJ-Adv G501 headphones (MSRP: $129.99) are designed for both advanced and amateur DJs. With a shape similar to the professional HDP DJ-Pro M1001 version, the HDP DJ-Adv G501 model is distinguished by a black lacquer finish and green highlighting elements. It has pivoting ear components, with 3 axes of rotation, which let the wearer preview tracks with just one ear, and allow for easy folding and transportation.

Hercules has also created a third model for home listening, the HDP DJ M40.1 (MSRP: $39.99). The headphones’ DJ look and two axes of rotation for ear components (ear-cup 180° vertical rotation and 120° hinge rotation toward the inside) are intended to appeal to a large number of users.
