Jump Inside NYC Music & Sound With SonicScoop

In these five hallowed boroughs and points nearby, there’s no shortage of music and sound, or of the brilliant people who make it. There are five bands on every block in Brooklyn, a producer per square foot in Queens, studios up and down Staten Island, beatmakers shaking the Bronx, and mixers all across Manhattan.

But wait, there’s more. Music supervisors are calling the shots over in the Viacom building at 1515 Broadway. Advertising gurus are picking commercial hits on Madison Avenue, and publishers are signing on the dotted line from the Brill Building in Times Square. Entertainment attorneys are as numerous as hot dog stands. Internet smarties are up late in DUMBO inventing the next online music miracle, while little labs in Long Island City give birth to new stompboxes.

The big thing that’s missing is a network that can tie it all together. NYC’s artists and the music professionals that work with them rely on little more than a word-of-mouth network, one which has been vastly reduced by the dispersion of their label contacts and the shuttering of so many studio haunts. Still, our city’s talent routinely needs drum rooms, great engineers, risky mixers, top mastering ears, management and label support…they all need to find each other, and everything is available right here.

SonicScoop is NYC’s music and sound production connection.
