Loop Loft & Blend.io Launch The Legends Contest Project

Blend.io — the new collaborative music platform that we recently told you about – and loop provider The Loop Loft have teamed up to launch a The Legends Contest Project featuring a tempting prize package. In this musical competition, participants are being given the opportunity to create new music with performances from legendary musicians including Omar Hakim (David Bowie, Sting, Daft Punk) and Mino Cinélu (Miles Davis, Stevie Wonder, Herbie Hancock).
The best productions will win big, taking home prizes from The Loop Loft, Grado Labs, ModernDrummer, Blend.io and more. See the full roster of prize packages below.

To get started, simply join Blend, then pull the Ableton Live project on blend.io and create an original song using the samples provided. Singers, producers, guitarists, rappers, and beyond are all invited to go as far as their imaginations take them. Entries can be in any style, and participants are free to add their own instrumentation and/or vocals.
Here’s how to enter, as instructed by Blend.io:
1. Head over to blend.io to log in, or quickly create a new account using SONICBLEND to sign up.
2. Go to the project page on blend.io to Pull it, which will quickly sync a copy of the Ableton Live project into your Dropbox. The project contains a collection of exclusive sample loops organized by instrument. Please don’t move or rename this folder you’ll be working with it right there. (If you don’t have Ableton Live, get a fully functional 30-day trial version here.)
3. Do your thing. Everything from subtle arrangements to highly experimental jams is welcome.
4. When you’re ready to share your masterpiece, save it, then “Collect All and Save” and export the mixdown as a 16bit 44,100Hz WAV with the filename “preview.wav” overwriting the old preview in the project folder.
5. Log into Blend.io and you should see the “Local Updates” tab light up with a notification prompting you to publish your changes from the project page. And that’s it!

RULES
1. Entries must use at least five of the original sample loops in some way.
2. Entries are free to include original instrumentation and vocals but must not include any copyrighted material.
Competition ends on Tuesday November 5th, with the winners announced and featured on the Blend.io blog.
