New Gear Alert: Abbey Road Chambers by Waves, PreSonus’ All-In-One Recording Solution, Novation Updates Circuit & More
Waves now shipping the Abbey Road Chambers plugin.
The Abbey Road Chambers plugin recreates a defining part of Abbey Road Studios’ legendary sonic signature—the echo chamber used by Abbey Road’s engineers, to create exciting reverbs, delays, and other unique spatial effects on countless classic recordings by the Beatles and beyond.
Developed together with Abbey Road Studios, Waves’ Abbey Road Chambers puts you at the controls of the Studio Two echo chamber, complete with the original valve Neumann KM53 microphones and Altec 605 speaker, as used on almost every pop recording done at Abbey Road during the ‘60s.
Also featured is a complete recreation of Abbey Road Studios’ original S.T.E.E.D. (Send. Tape. Echo. Echo. Delay.) setup. This system was designed to extend the chamber’s natural sonic palette into new territories by splitting the signal and creating a feedback loop from the studio’s REDD desk, through a dedicated tape delay, via the RS106 and RS127 filters, and then to the chamber and back.
The Abbey Road Chambers plugin is designed in a modular fashion: you can send your tracks just to the chamber, you can isolate just the S.T.E.E.D. effect, or you can combine both for the full range of sonic possibilities opened by the original Abbey Road setup.
The Waves Abbey Road Chambers plugin is on sale now for $29 (reg. $199).

Novation announces Circuit v1.7 is here.
The evolution of Novation Circuit continues, with v1.7 bringing some hotly-requested, powerful functions, including Pattern Chain Sequences, Synth Micro-nudge, and more.
Novation has expanded what’s possible with the Patterns view, allowing complex sequences of patterns and pattern chains to be made. There’s a new Pattern Chain Sequence function, from which up to 32 patterns and 16 chains of patterns can be selected in any order. Patterns and chains can be repeated, and sequences can be build up and easily navigated between. The Append setting can be toggled to add patterns and chains to an existing pattern sequence, even when playing.
It’s also now possible to take music off the grid by delaying notes on a step from one to five ticks (each step is divided up into six ticks). It’s also possible to use Synth Micro-nudge to create new, more complex rhythms like triplets across the beat.

SPL expands their Mastering Series hardware line with the PASSEQ.
The newly-updated PASSEQ passive mastering equalizer complements SPL’s highly-acclaimed range of 120V audio rail Mastering Series processors. The new PASSEQ offers the flavor and genuine sound of passive inductive coil filter equalization.
Each channel of the PASSEQ offers 72 passive filters—all built with high-grade, single core coils. Compared to its predecessor, the new PASSEQ sports an extended high frequency EQ range to 35kHz, making it ideally suited for “ultra high frequency” processing, and the mid frequency cut now starts much lower at 200Hz, compared to its predecessor at 1kHz.
Other new features include a +/-10dB output gain control for precise calibration, and the Auto Bypass function with interval control that is also featured on SPL’s IRON mastering compressor and the PQ mastering equalizer.
The SPL PASSEQ is priced at $5,999.
