New Gear Alert: MA-37 Condenser Mic by Mojave, Eventide’s SplitEQ, ETHOS Broadcast Mic from Earthworks & More

Mojave Audio announces the MA-37 large diaphragm tube condenser mic.

Mojave Audio pays homage to the revered Sony C-37a with their new MA-37.

The MA-37 is a modern take on the classic Sony C-37a, a workhorse from the Golden Age of Hollywood recording favored by The Wrecking Crew, Leonard Bernstein, and Mel Blanc. The MA-37 is a high headroom large-diaphragm tube condenser that updates the original design with modern components and workmanship for a rich, natural sound that imparts a smooth musicality on any instrument or voice.

As with all Mojave Audio microphones, the MA-37 is hand-built with the same detailed craftsmanship that have made them essential in studios around the world.

The MA-37 is available now, priced at $3,499.

Eventide provides a cutting-edge take on EQ with their new SplitEQ plugin.

SplitEQ is an advanced equalization plugin featuring Eventide’s patented Structural Split technology. SplitEQ features parametric functionality with eight bands of precise, musical filters. What’s new and different is Eventide’s powerful Structural Split engine which divides the incoming audio into separate “Transient” and “Tonal” streams that feed the eight bands. This approach makes common EQ problems easy to solve even in a complex mix, and opens up exciting new musical possibilities.

SplitEQ is available for Mac and PC in VST, AAX, and AU formats for an introductory promo price of $99 (reg. $179).

Earthworks debuts the ETHOS broadcast microphone.

Earthworks adds the ETHOS broadcast microphone to their ICON line of streaming microphones.

ETHOS is a supercardioid 14 millimeter condenser microphone with a frequency response of 20Hz – 30kHz. It has SPL handling of 145dB. The innovative windscreen stack with user-replaceable foam raises the bar for plosive and wind noise protection without impacting fidelity or transparency.

Like other Earthworks microphones in the ICON streaming family line, ETHOS ships with an included Triad-Orbit M2-R ball joint mic adapter, allowing you to make precise placement adjustments. If an additional shock mount is desired, ETHOS can be used with the USM universal shock mount from Rycote; however, ETHOS is naturally resistant to handling noise and thumps thanks to internal dampening and robust stainless-steel construction.

Grado Labs releases the RS1X & RS2X wooden headphones.

Careful selection of choice building materials—in this case, wood—is at the heart of these two new headphone offerings from Grado Labs.

This new Reference Series brings Grado’s fourth generation X Drivers to the RS1x and RS2x. The RS2x combines maple and hemp wood, while the RS1x combines maple, cocobolo, and hemp wood. These newly built speakers are the fourth generation of drivers the Brooklyn company has designed since the introduction of the first Grado headphone in 1991. Along with the superior sound these new drivers produce, the RS1x and RS2x are now built with a new durable cable and new headbands.

The RS1X & RS2X are available now, priced at $750 and $550, respectively.
