The instrument features brass tipped felt strips that can be dropped between the hammers and strings, emulating the sound of a “tack piano”. The result is an instrument of two distinct characters: one mellow and dark; the second, percussive and bright. The Originals Jangle Box Piano features Close, Room and Vintage signals, six presets, six controls, and is available in Spitfire’s easy-to-use, award-winning plugin. It is also NKS compatible, and weighs in at approximately 8GB.

The Originals Jangle Box Piano is available now, priced at $29.

Remic Microphones releases two new piano microphone kits.

Remic debuts two attractive piano micing solutions, one for upright and one for grand applications.

Remic Microphones has just debuted the the P6100 DUAL (for upright piano) and the P6100 TRIPLE (for grand piano) kits. The microphones work as complementary solutions for more nuanced definition and better control of the sound in a studio setting. It allows you to bring people into the same recording room because the microphones are mounted inside the piano onto the cast iron frame with magnets. This allows for fast, precise and repeatable setup.

For live use, the REMIC P6100s will allow the engineer to close the lid of the grand piano while still maintaining a natural sound and to avoid too many reflections from other instruments on stage.
