New Gear Alert: Next Generation KRK Subwoofers, MINI GO Amplifiers by VOX, Focus Elements Series from NUGEN & More

KRK welcomes a new generation of subwoofers.

KRK revamps their subwoofer line, eyeing a Spring 2021 release.

Coming in Spring 2021, the new series of KRK Studio Subwoofers will be available in 8-, 10-, and 12-inch variations: the S8.4, S10.4, and S12.4. Building on KRK’s legacy of sonic accuracy and performance, the new subwoofers deliver tight, accurate, and defined bass, while the highly efficient Class D power amplifiers dramatically increase transient response, control, and punch.

The redesigned cabinets feature a more compact profile compared to their predecessors, allowing for improved placement flexibility and a timeless design that provides a more professional aesthetic. The new subwoofers feature a wealth of connectivity options with XLR, 1/4″ TRS, and RCA inputs and outputs that interface with just about any manufacturer’s studio monitors, mixers, and/or audio interfaces.

The new KRK subwoofers will be available in Spring 2021; pricing is not yet available.

Softube and Weiss release the Weiss EQ MP.

Pushing further Weiss’ EQ1 design, the Softube EQ MP offers the same level of surgical precision with even more flexibility.

Built on the minimum phase algorithm of the legendary Weiss EQ1, EQ MP is designed for exacting mixing applications that necessitate a surgical EQ and sound quality that is a cut above the rest. Like the mastering legend Weiss EQ1, EQ MP is a seven-band equalizer. It offers the famous transparency of the EQ1 coupled with the sharpest accuracy achievable.

Softube and Weiss Engineering’s EQ MP is optimized for the discerning mixing specialist, with low latency and a light CPU load. The EQ MP uses the minimum phase algorithm and the same dual seven-band setup with the expanded parameter set of the EQ1. But with continuous unstepped frequency parameters, expanded filter slopes, and a resizable GUI with dark mode, it is a decidedly new take on Weiss technology.

The Weiss EQ MP is available now for an introductory sale price of $149 until February 19th (reg. $199).

Spitfire Audio releases the Contemporary Drama Toolkit.

Spitfire Audio and Samuel Sim team up to deliver the Contemporary Drama Toolkit.

The Contemporary Drama Toolkit is a broadcast-ready sound set, expertly curated and produced by award-winning composer Samuel Sim and Spitfire’s team of composers, to help you score to picture without the theory—without compromising on emotion. Across 72 individual instrument patches and 44 combinations, expression is baked into each sound, leaving you to focus on your music instead of software menus.

CDT’s diverse sound palette originates in a masterful blending of its source material—mellow, chorus tones of a Juno 6, iconic MS–20 textures, sung vocalizations, and inspiring lead lines performed on guitar, electric cello, and electric violin—all processed via an enviable collection of analog effects, vintage stompboxes, and Eurorack modules. Everything from whispered textures to bold melodies blossom from the simplest variance in playing, unlocking a world of sound in every patch.
