New Gear Alert: UA’s Neve Preamp, H1n Mobile Recorder from Zoom, Updates to Blue Cat’s Destructor & More

Universal Audio releases the Neve Preamp.

Universal Audio’s newest emulation is the Neve Preamp – a preamp-only model of the revered 1073, as seen in their brief production run of the 1290 module.

Available for UA audio interface and UAD‑2 hardware users, the new Neve Preamp provides the clarity, grit, and complex class‑A saturation of the legendary Neve mic preamplifier, in a simple two-knob plugin.

The pinnacle of Neve preamp design is the classic 1073 module with EQ, but Neve also briefly produced the 1290 module – a rare, preamp-only version of the 1073.

The Neve Preamp plugin combines sonic attributes and features of both the coveted 1073 and 1290 designs, and provides all the features, bandwidth, and attitude of Rupert Neve’s original hardware design. By thoroughly modeling the dual-stage “Red Knob” preamp and output amplifier with obsessive detail, the Neve Preamp plugin replicates the sound and behavior of the original preamp with stunning accuracy.

The Neve Preamp is available now for $149.

Danley Sound Labs introduces the OS-12CX loudspeaker.

Danley aims to take on Mother Nature with the OS-12CX, a robust and feature-packed weatherized loudspeaker for live use.

The OS-12CX builds upon on the success of the preceding OS-80 & OS-90 loudspeakers and the OS-115 subwoofer. Like its siblings, the OS-12CX is built to withstand punishing rain, heat, and freeze/thaw cycles, season after season. It delivers a sonic performance that is closer to the sound in an audiophile’s listening room than to the egregiously band-passed outdoor PAs of the past.

The Danley OS-12CX uses Danley’s patented Synergy crossover design, Sentinel limiter protection circuitry, and stainless steel mounting hardware that is prepared to brace the OS-12CX against Mother Nature’s worst.

The Danley OS-12CX boasts a frequency response that is +/-3dB from as low as 69Hz to as high as 21.7kHz, using a single 12-inch coaxial driver. It is rated at 400W continuous and 1600W peak, and is capable of delivering 121dB SPL continuous and 127dB SPL peak. Its dimensions are approximately 30” tall x 26” wide x 11” deep. In addition, the Danley Sound Labs Centinel Protection Circuit is on both high and low frequencies.
