NYC Event Alert: “The Rhythm Business” with Bashiri Johnson – Tuesday, 10/23

You know what they say about making it in New York City.

One of NYC’s most precious musical resources is percussionist/recording artist/producer/ educator Bashiri Johnson, the master percussionist who has topped the first-call list of Sting, Michael Jackson, Whitney, Beyoncé, Madonna throughout his incredible career. Johnson knows how challenging it can feel for artists and engineers to build a career – here or anywhere else in the world – and he’ll be sharing his expertise on the topic in a free event that’s coming up.

productive evening with Bashiri Johnson on October 23rd.

“The Rhythm Business: How Success is a Process, and Achievable by All” takes place Tuesday October 23, 2018, 4:30 pm to 7:30 pm, at
 American Federation of Musicians Local 802, 322 W. 48th St., in the NYC /Club Room. Light refreshments will be served – admission is free but you must RSVP to Bcovo@local802afm.org.

Appearing along with Johnson will be his friends the accomplished artists Francis Mbappe, Katreese Barnes, and Anjali. SonicScoop’s David Weiss will be the evening’s MC. Together, the group will conduct a Master Class/Clinic about Johnson’s experiences working with top artists of popular music and media.

On the agenda will be Johnson’s rhythmic approach, and that led to him becoming one of the most visible and recorded percussionists going. He will explain how proven strategies, attitudes and work habits can be employed by anyone, while sharing the cultural and clinical significance of the drum and percussion.
