Online Event Alert: “How to Get a Job in an Industry in Turmoil” – Wednesday, 12/16

While we all await a healthier world, everyone wants a healthier job market now.

The next panel from KMD Productions addresses the audio industry’s employment concerns head-on with “Hot to Get a Job in an Industry in Turmoil.” A free online event, it takes place Wednesday, December 16, at 11 AM PST.

In “How to Get a Job,” three industry pros discuss audio jobs in a field that is not always easy to break into, and how to get hired during a pandemic when interviews and all interactions are through the medium of online meetings. The panel will offer tips on how to get a job during the COVID-19 pandemic: Learn how a manufacturer, a mastering engineer and a TV editor have adapted. They will offer their best advice on standing out in a job search in this 2-D world.

The 30 minute panel will be followed by a 15-minute Q&A. Attendance is free, but you must RSVP to register.

Panelists:

Greg Beebe—currently Director, Professional Audio, has worked with Sennheiser in various roles since 1992, starting as an Application Engineer and working his way up through the company. He is currently Director Professional Audio. His role includes: Global P&L responsibility for the Professional Audio business unit which include Live Performance, Theatre, Studios, House of Worship, Audio for Video, Music Industry and Broadcast markets. Duties include team/talent development, strategic planning, product management, strategic alliances, technical application engineering, marketing, sales, business development, customer and market insights. Beebe champions customer-centric initiatives to further place end-user value at the nucleus of product, promotion, price and place.

Gavin Lurssen—is the president and principal engineer at Lurssen Mastering. He is a twelve-time Grammy nominee and four-time Grammy winner. Artists whose albums he has mastered include the Foo Fighters, Ben Harper, Queens of the Stone Age, Robert Plant & Alison Krauss, Eric Clapton and Sara Bareilles, to name just a few. He also has worked on the soundtracks for “Game of Thrones,” “The Queen’s Gambit,” Mulan, “The Mandalorian” and Black Panther.

Susan Vaill, ACEis an editor of both comedy and drama series, including “Space Force,” “This Is Us,” and “Grey’s Anatomy.” She has also edited six television pilots and helped launch five shows in their first season. Susan first entered the film industry in an ‘80s Doublemint gum commercial and the Hal Ashby film Bound For Glory. She studied film theory and art history at Williams College and got an MFA in film production at USC. After assistant-editing documentaries and feature films like The Last Samurai, Susan edited over 70 episodes of “Grey’s Anatomy” which won the Golden Globe for Best Drama Series in 2008. She also edited the award-winning drama “This Is Us,” and the critically acclaimed AMC dramedy “Lodge 49.” In 2018, Susan was selected to join the society of American Cinema Editors.
