RIP Johann Brunkvist, Dance Music Keyboardist and Innovator

SonicScoop was saddened to learn of the passing of the extremely talented keyboardist and dance music pioneer, Johann Brunvkist, at age 50.

RIP Johann Brunkvist, dance music virtuoso.

Originally from Stockholm but based out of New York City for decades, Brunkvist was a major musical force behind numerous Todd Terry records and remixes, with a long discography that includes Cher, Janet Jackson, Debbie Harry, Amber and scores more.

Brunkvist was also a frequent collaborator with prolific dance labels such as Sweet Rains and KULT Records. His most recent release, Chill Out Sessions (Best of) was just released on the Rhythm Oasis label on March 22, 2012.

Brunkvist’s Random Styles: A Chill Out Album (KULT Records, 2005) has long been in permanent rotation in this author’s playlist. Johann Brunkvist will be missed, but his creativity and musical mastery will live on.
