Slate Launches Affordable RAVEN MTi2, RAVEN 3.0 Software

As with any good flock of birds, the RAVEN line of multi-touch control surfaces from Slate Media Technology is growing. The latest addition is RAVEN MTi2, which stands as the most affordable RAVEN to date with an MSRP of $999.

A RAVEN can now be captured for under a grand.

With the RAVEN MTi2, users have access to multi-touch faders, pans, sends, and tweak plugins with their fingers as if they were real hardware.

The 27-inch specification of the MTi2 stands in contrast to the flagship 46-inch MTX, which carried an MSRP of $15,999-$17,499 in 2013, but can currently be found online for $9,999. The MTi2 appears to replace the 27-inch MTi, which was announced by Slate in September, 2013 at a price of $2,499. RAVEN MTi2’s are shipping to Dealers within the next two weeks, and can be pre-ordered now.

It’s not clear what the difference is between the MTi and the MTi2, besides the lower price and its better RAVEN 3.0 software (officially available later in October). Will the reduced fare extend the appeal of RAVEN? Time will tell, especially since 3.0 opens up the RAVEN to many more DAW users than before.

With 3.0, RAVEN now supports every major DAW including including Pro Tools, Cubase, Nuendo, Studio One v3, Logic Pro X, Digital Performer, and Ableton Live. Slate notes that all DAW’s support OSX, while Pro Tools PC Beta will be available upon 3.0 launch this month.  Cubase/Nuendo PC is expected in December 2015.
