Get ready to ring in the new year early. With just days to go in December, there’s an exciting new entry into the audio world. Tonecraft Audio has arrived, and with it the 363 Tube Direct Box.

San Diego-based Tonecraft is the brainchild of the highly respected equipment designer Jon Erickson (A-Designs) and designer/LA bassist Ryan Feves – together, their aim is to create elite gear for both recording and live applications.

(Editor’s Update — The following paragraph was update on January 6, 2014 to reflect new information on availability and pricing)

They seem to be off to a tempting start with their 363 Tube Direct Box, which became available in January 2014 for a street price of $1,395. Rackmount kits are available for $75. Tonecraft is also offering free ground shipping for a limited-time introductory period.

Borne of a solid year of nonstop R&D, Erickson describes the 363 as “the player’s D.I.”, with an ability to aggressively shape tones like a vintage tube amp and function as a full frequency, high performance tube direct box.

According to Tonecraft, the 363 is built for musicians that appreciate the sounds, style and build quality of golden era equipment (50’s-70s) who are looking to vastly improve their 1/4” sound. Electric and upright bassists, acoustic and electric guitarists, keyboard players and electronic musicians should all benefit.

If it sounds as good as it looks, everyone’s in for a rich 2014 — congratulations to Tonecraft on their debut!
