Vintagetools Launches VT900 Studer 900 Series Channel Strip

Take a classic, then make it more compact, easy to use, and affordable – what’s not to like?

The German manufactuer Vintagetools clearly saw things that way when it designed the new VT900 Studer 900 Series Channel Strip. It takes the channel strip straight from Studer’s flagship 900 series console, then refurbishes, modifies, and racks it in an attractive 1RU chassis.

The repackaged channel strip promises to bring an enticing new/classic tool to engineers and producers, no matter what their studio layout. Providing a mic pre with an impressive 80 dB of gain and very low distortion, high- and lo-pass filters with continuously selectable frequencies, and a 4-band parametric EQ, the VT900 should put the best parts of a classic desk to fresh use.

It is available now for 999 Euro, or $1,358.44 at today’s exchange rates. Here are more details, as explained by Vintagetools:

An open and transparent sounding mic preamp with 80dB of gain, together with variable hi-pass and lo-pass filters and a very flexible 4-band parametric EQ, leave no sounddesires open.

Inside of the carefully planned and handcrafted VT900 racks, you will find a conventional psu with five different voltages plus a custom made pcb backplate with balancing amp and a vintage Haufe output transformer.

All vintage STUDER 900 channels undergo a complete refurbishment and recapping. To avoid confusion, all unnecessary sections like the aux-send and pan-pots are removed and the print is adapted to horizontal view. Finally, all channels are carefully tested and calibrated before put in their new housings in order to live their second life.
