The Beauty of Vari Mu Compressors

This week I stopped by the Plugin Alliance channel to take a deep look at Vari Mu compressors, and what make them special.

We walk through SPL IRON and the NEOLD V76U73, two popular vari-mu compressors in the Plugin Alliance MEGA Bundle.

Vari-mu compressors (or “variable bias compressors”) contain tubes that perform the compression process. They typically provide a fast attack time but with a soft knee, and plenty of character. These compressors use one of the earliest compression designs and are still one of the most coveted types of compressors on the market.
